Healthy Selfie Geopark trail – Brixham
Brixham harbour and Breakwater
This Healthy Selfie Geopark Journey is an accessible trail around Brixham’s seafront, which aims to encourage people to step into the fresh air and discover some extraordinary facts along the way. The routes are wide with flat walkways and avoid areas that tend to get overly busy or loud.
Leaflets can be picked up from the English Riviera Visitor Information Centre, Vaughan Parade, Torquay TQ2 5JG. Alternatively, download the trails from this here: https://healthy-selfie.co.uk/walks/#geopark-journeys
We point out parking and public transport options, toilets and changing place toilets (where available).
The highlights of this route include:
- Look out for two wooden ketch-rigged sailing trawlers – Pilgrim of Brixham and Vigilance of Brixham – which are the port’s two heritage boats
- Watch the fishing trawlers unloading their catches in the harbour…..whilst enjoying an ice cream!
- Visit the Golden Hind, a full size replica of Sir Francis Drake’s famous galleon which navigated the globe between 1577 and 1580
- The Man and Boy sculpture is a memorial to lives lost at sea and a celebration of Brixham’s fishing heritage.
